William “Bill” Montgomery (who we call “CSI Bill” because of his natural common-sense approach) is an educator, mentor, father, and founder of Hidden Pioneers (HP), a group focused on inspiring students, especially in underserved communities.

HP does this with amazing collaborators and through hands-on exhibits, demonstrations, and fun exposure to science, technology, transportation, art, and music, with cultural experiences mixed in!

By collaborating with local technology & transportation businesses (featured on the home page), the Columbia Memorial Space Center in Downey, CA, and NASA relationships nationwide, HP continues to grow each year.

Hidden Pioneers, with partner Prime Motivation, Inc. (a Southern California 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization), creates educational experiences for our youth.

Bill works daily to grow Hidden Pioneers' educational outreach events and programs related to S.T.R.E.A.M., and honor the legacy his cousin Katherine Johnson proudly began.

What is “Hidden Pioneers”

Hidden Pioneers is an educational and mentorship initiative that:

  • Highlights unsung innovators in science, engineering, transportation, and the arts (often overlooked)

  • Connects students with real-world professionals and career paths to fill the ever-growing need for skilled people

  • Uses cars, various forms of technology, and artistic media to make learning engaging

Hidden Pioneers is inspired by the film Hidden Figures, which portrays NASA in the early 1960's and features female mathematicians, and Bill's cousin, Katherine Johnson, is highlighted as having a key role in getting the United States to the moon.
